Little Miss

When you work in the industry you rarely get to show your own personal style and creativity. So it is very important to design in your own time just to keep your creativity alive :)

Digital Illustration & Concept Art

I have always been really interested in digital illusration, particularly illustrations for pixar animation. So much, in fact that I explored the Pixar website and decided then and there that Pixar California is going to be where i work one day. ah, a girl can but dream! I am not amazing at freehand illustration but i understand a thing or two about texture, highlights and shading which is why i was pleasantly surprised when i discovered that there is such a thing as a shading technician. The shading technician basically recieves 3D shots of the characters and then goes out and finds the textures of various materials needed for reference. Then shades the characters to make the characters' textures authentic looking. what a rad job!

Anyway.. as my interest in digital art grew, i found an array of talented digital artists which were all inspirations to me, however, one artist's work stood out neck and shoulders from the rest. I wanted to put her in my pocket and take her out whenever i had a Photoshop question. When the work of UK based concept artist Charlie Bowater caught my attention I instantly decided that  i wanted to be a concept artist. So, i tried my hand at creating some Concept illustrations of my own... (dont judge)

Birdies

As you might have figured out, I love detail, bits and buttons that make up a unified whole. These are birds Iillustrated with shapes, vines, patterns.

Typo Illustration. GO!

I am currently busy with an illustrative typography book which features an illustrated word in any style on each page. I am aiming for about 100 illustratons to complete the book. Lets see how that goes. :) This is the word i worked on today. GO. It is made up of detailed waves. i like it. Go sail the seas!

The Dragon Hunt

I've been meaning to post this for a while now. This was the treasure hunt I sent my Matty on. I stained an A1 paper with tea bags and burnt the edges of it to look authentic.  I gave Matty a sword because he was going to face a ghastly, fire-breathing dragon on his hunt. On the way there he had to retrieve a message in a bottle from the river which had a letter from me in it and he also had to bring back the tooth of the dragon after he slayed it. I was very surprised by the 'tooth' he brought, it looked very much like a dragon tooth should look. The treasure he found was a package filled with gold paper chocolate coins and an harmonica which i would like him to learn how to play very well!! i hope he reads this ;)

Blog Dilemma resolved

Hi everybody/anybody ! As the title of this post suggests, i have had a dilemma about what to post and what not to post on my blog. Keep it professional, or just go with it. This has been going on for quite some time, resulting in me not posting anything at all. Since i've already got a portfolio site .. www.behance.net/ivanaraguz.com ...woop! ... i will officiall make my blog an anything and everything design base. What i post from here on will be anything i have done that required some creativity and thinking process. I would also like to throw in some of the things that inspire me most when it comes to design. ta-daaa! let the show begin.
